HighWire Films central creative force rests on the shoulders of Mike Robertson and Arlen Konopaki, two longtime friends who grew up together in Fort McMurray Alberta. In 2002 they moved to Edmonton Alberta and the banner of HighWire Films began in 2003, when Robertson and Konopaki ventured into the world of filmmaking.

HighWire Films has received 6 AMPIA Award nominations: Best Director (for Losing Will, 2009), Best Screenwriting (Beartrap, 2010) and Best Feature (for Losing Will and Beartrap).
